Guoguang Electric Takes the Epidemic Seriously and Adopt Strong Measures to Ensure Resumption of Work
Resume to work in an orderly manner
Today’s Huadu News: Guoguang Electric Company Ltd (Apower Electronics Co., Ltd included) resumed to work on Feb. 10. As 3000 plus employees began to come back to their work positions, how should the company keeps operation running smoothly without exposing them to the danger of the epidemic? Lu Hongda, board chairperson of Guoguang Electric Company Ltd. answered this question during an interview with the press on Feb. 14.
According to Mr. Lu, 98% of the office staff has been back to their positions, while only 60% of the workers were back, and the remaining 40% were prevented by transportation problems. The company has taken a series of measures; some of them were already effective during the Spring Festival, to protect the staff and workers who have come back.
Three workers came back from Hubei province on Jan. 26. The company lost no time to stop them from entering the premises. Then the company reported the situation to the local government, sent the three workers to a quarantine place set up by the company, had their body temperatures taken every day, gave them food and drinks, and took care of their needs. They were released from quarantine 14 days later only after hospital medical examination confirmed their health. It was also on Jan. 26 that the company made a whole set of emergency plan for epidemic prevention.
The company has been making adjustment in accordance with the government's requirement on resumption of work. During preparation for resumption of work, the company has made great effort to procure materials needed for epidemic prevention. For example, as early as Jan. 27 and 28, the company had already 20,000 gloves and facemasks in stock, and began to buy disinfectants. In order to prevent the long queues of employees before the workshop entrances waiting to have their body temperature measured, the company made careful plans for such matters as queuing arrangement, deployment of spot thermometers, and contingency plan for rainy days. Another solution to this problem is that the company decidesto take body temperatures of employees on buses from metro stations to the company; if everything is fine, the buses will drive directly into the premises. Anyone detected with abnormal body temperature will be sent to hospital immediately. In the past two days, 6 employees havebeen found having fever. They were sent to hospital by designated cars, and their colleagues working near them were sent to quarantine directly to prevent potential infection to their family members. Luckily, all six of them were declared fine after tests.
When asked how were employees doing physically, mentally, and emotionally during the work, Mr. Lu said that a big company could offer its employees a sense of safety, and it was actually a good thing for workers to come back to work; because the company had a whole set of prevention measures. For example, employees found that the company had carried out questionnaire survey long ago; as early as Jan. 28 they were instructed to use App sent by the company to submit such information as where did they go during the Spring Festival, when would they come back, and how would they came back, and so on. This first hand information makes it much easier to prevent spread of infection. Employees treat the company as their second home, and the company takescare of its employees; that is the only way that the company can continue to grow.
How can a company of thousands of employees avoid cross infection during meal time? Guoguang Electric has special rules for this matter: employees shall have their meals during the time and in the place assigned to them; and employees from different department shall not be mixed. This helpsprevent cross infection; if there is one infected employee in a department, the whole department will be quarantined. When having meals in the dining hall, employees shall not sit face to face. All these rules are meant to protect the employees.
The production of the company is surely affected by the missing of part of its work force. The silver lining is that it is now the off season of company business, which minimizesthe impact. The company will arrange production in accordance with the urgency of order delivery. But the material stock of the company can last only about one week, if the suppliers cannot resume to work soon, the company's production will be heavily hit. Therefore the company hopes that with support of the government, applications of suppliers for resumption of work can be approved as soon as possible. Moreover the company welcomes contacts from job seekers, since there will be a shortage of general workers if the company is to run at full capacity.
