Today’s Huadu News: A ceremony and symposium was held on Jan. 10 at the government complex of Guangzhou for the appointment of Guangzhou government counselor and researchers of the Research Institute of Culture and History. Major Wen Guohui awarded letters of appointment to the new counselor and researchers. Chen Jie, secretary of the general office of government read the appointment document and delivered a speech. The newly appointed counselor and researchers also spoke. Xu Zhaodong is appointed as a government counselor, who is a member of CPPCC Guangzhou standing committee, vice president of CPPCC Huadu District, and a part-time deputy director of China Association for Promoting Democracy Guangzhou Committee.

　　 According to relevant documents, city government counselor are mainly selected from social celebrities who can offer strong political consulting support, and can provide suggestions and complete research reports independently; their job is to participate in government affairs, offer suggestions, and exercise democratic supervision. As a non-CPC party member, Xu Zhaodong has offered in recent years a series of important proposals based on field research for revitalization of old city and for the “four new highlights”program.In 2009 alone, his Proposal of Promoting Rural Revitalization of Regions in Guangzhou Along the Tropic of Cancer Through Coordinated Development was recognized as a key proposal with an outstanding award by CPPCC Guangzhou, and the research project presided by him under the name of Building Sanhua Historic and Cultural Street in the Guangzhou North Railway Station Business Zone was accepted as a key project of 2019 by the United Front Department of CPC Huadu District Committee.

　　 It has been learned that with the 9 newly appointed counselors, there are now 24 counselor in the city government; and that the city’s Research Institute of Culture and History has now 98 researchers, 5 of them are new members.
